Adidas Sundown Marathon 2010

For the first time ever, im going to run a night marathon - Sundown Marathon in Singapore coming this Saturday night. A truly night marathon which start at 11.59pm comparing Putrajaya Night marathon which started at 8.00pm and Energizer Night race at 6.00pm.

"Beat the sunrise" the tagline are mean for those 84km Ultra-marathoner where they will be starting from starting line at 6.00pm where the sun still burning hot.... they run until sun down.. and beat the sunrise to cross the finishing line.

My running sifu and his gang are planning to tackle 84km with timing of 12-13 hours.... which mean, they hardly beat the sunrise!

While, for me, im also beating the Sunrise, 6 hours timing to 6.00am... Wow... This going to push my body to the limits where my mind going to shut down when reach around 3-4.00am... Hope the whole journey got something interesting to entertainment... hehe...

Good luck vin_ann. . .

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2010 a.k.a SCKLM

i have decided to join the SCKLM 2010 as i realised that i never run a marathon in my home city! i have run many short runs around KL, but never a marathon, a 42.195km marathon in KL city...

So i skipped Gold Coast marathon which is held 1 week later.

Run As One - SCKLM

Last year SCKLM 2009 was a suck 1.. badly organised. This year, i have the faith on this up coming SCKLM. i got the news from Mr Wan (Volunteers Race Director of SCKLM, if im remember his post correctly) , saying that 350 of Standard Chartered staffs are joining as volunteers! Well done Standard Chartered Staffs...

The Volunteers Recruitment Drive are still on-going ! Mr Wan need more volunteers to make sure the smooth transition of the marathon. If you're are interested, feel free to join the team.

SCKLM going to be my 5th marathon since December 2009 and 4th marathon which i run for the year 2010.

Running Cap

Since last year, before the night marathon, i never thought of getting a running cap. Reason is simple, im hardly run under the hot sun during race or training until late morning.

Most of my running session start as early as 5.30am and mostly end around 8.30am or the latest 9.30am where the Sun are still ok, bearable.

Since there were 2 night marathons that i have been through 1 which start at 8.00pm and another 1 start at 6.00pm. Since the registration, im trying to trains under the evening hot sun...

Just run, its the motto which running in mind when im run under the evening hot sun...

Since then, need of a running cap have raised. Running under hot run can be dangerous and where you can get heat stroke if serious...

Since then, im been looking at Adidas running cap and Nike running cap...

On 1 Friday, i went to The Garden. Looking at Adidas running Cap... to my disappointment, only female running cap were available... so i switch to Nike store. Oh yeah... Nike's running cap is unisex... and its Orange...

Orange color is something im like without im realised.
I got Orange running vest which is New Balance 30km this January run.
I got 2 Orange T-shirts which im like them very much.
My hp is Orange color in the back of phone.
Now my running cap is Orange!

Yeah...

Now from top till legs, my running gears are complete.

Peace Hill Weekday Morning Running Group

A running group called "Peace Hill Weekday Morning Running Group" was being founded by one of our runners on Sunday, 9 May 2010.

Who are we?
A group of slow running enthusiasts from Kuala Lumpur trains in the weekday morning before work.

We normally runs on Tuesday & Thursday morning 5.30am, starting from Bukit Aman Car Park for 10km double hill route.

We choose Tuesday because normally we have our 20km LSD (Long Slow Distance) run on Sunday, and Monday as our rest day.

Wednesday is our recovery day, and we run again on THursday. At 1 point of the time, we even run straight from Tues to Thurs.

To join us:
Its not hard to enable you to join us nor its not east too... you need to have the stamina of running 10km within 1 hours 20mins, i thinks. ops... yeah... timing not important... we're slow running group.

ok, here the trick, you need to able to join us at least once or more.. then you will be officially accepted. Importantly can show up on weekday!!! Waits, final 1, its subjects to other members approval too...

That's all...

Running Shoe

Right Running Shoe

Many of us includes me initially how to get a right running shoe for my running! im been doing survey and research and looking at high and low at Low yat forum.

Finally, i come to Health and Fitness section, where i found a Runnerz thread. i can feel i have come to the right place ask for the information on the running shoe.

Its here where i meet him, Frank (Runnerz Circle Store) aka Phoenix ( Low Yat Forum).  He intro me to the Runners Malaysia. He intro me to another shoe seller, Choi ( Ccube Sport HUB) Its was back to July / August 2008.

In order for Choi to advise me on the right shoe, he need to know my foot type. So he asked me to do as wet test.

Here my feet type. Im Neutral. (Normal)

Source: RunnersWorld - For other type of Foots

Flat Feet

This type of print looks like the whole sole of the foot is in contact with the ground. The low arch in this foot type is usually associated with overpronation and this is when the foot strikes on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards too far. If this is allowed to continue it can cause many different types of injury.

Best Last
Straight or semicurved

Best Shoes

Motion-control shoes with firm midsoles and control features that reduce the degree of pronation.

Stay away from highly cushioned, curved-lasted shoes that lack stability and control.

High Arched Feet

This is the least common of the three types of feet. The print shows that the band connecting the forefoot and the heel to be very thin or even non-existant. If you have feet like this then it tends to indicate that you underpronate (supinate) and are not very effective as a shock absorber. It is recommended that you only go for cushioned, neutral shoes without any motion or stability properties.

Best Last
Curved

Best Shoes

Cushioned shoes with plenty of flexibility to encourage foot motion.

Stay away from motion-control or stability shoes that reduce foot mobility.

Normal Feet

This footprint is the most common and suggests that you do not have any special requirements. Your feet will have an average sized arch and show the forefoot and heel connected by an even broad band.

The motion of a normal foot lands on the outside of the heel and rolls inwards a small amount to absorb the shock. This would suggest that you are biomechanically efficient and can use any shoe you want to. As motion control shoes tend to be more expensive and heavier you might want to discount these shoes from your list.
Best Last
Semicurved

Best Shoes
Shoes with moderate control features such as a two-density midsole.

Back in 2008, im just a beginner with zero knowledge in running and also zero stamina too.. Fitness level at the lowest point of the life.

Visiting local Nike / Adidas or which ever sport shops, who the hell so kind / free to explain all these kind of information to help you choose a right shoe! Lucky, through Choi, i know my feet type and also he recommended me a right shoe too! Saucony Triumph 5.

Oh yeah, he also need to know your body weight to know where you are over-weight / BMI is normal. Since im neutral and over-weight, i need a cushioning shoe. ok, next questions, Saucony? Huh, im never heard of this brand before and Malaysia no 1 is selling the shoe!

A quick google " Saucony". Wow, its 1 of the top running shoe brand in USA. Without hesitate, second thought, im decided go for Saucony Triumph 5.

  Saucony

Thank you Saucony Triumph 5

My 1st running shoe.

Since Aug 2008, im wearing my lovely red Saucony Triumph 5 running shoe and my fitness were improving.

In Aug 2009, after wearing my Triumph 5, i got my second shoe. Triumph 6.

Saucony Triumph 6

Im just love the color of my shoe! After 4 months i got my second shoe, i have ran my 1st ever full marathon in December  in Singapore, Standard Chartered Singapore marathon and the rest were history.

Up to yesterday 9 months, my Triumph 6 have clocked total mileage of 680km plus and i can feel the cushioning is not as good before. Now waiting for my Next Shoe Kswiss to arrive in Malaysia!
