We Run KL 10k 2012 - Race day!
Congratulation to We Run KL runners! you're 1 step closer to the Nike We Run KL 10KM 15,000 runners running race in the heart of KL city centre on 13 Oct 2012.
Was at The Curve... not collecting race bib but went to gym...
I'm surprised with the speed the event organizer building the tent. On Thursday morning, there's already setup the tent.... but without the design... and Friday morning, race bib collection started.
While the race bib collection held from Friday until Sunday evening, on Monday morning, it's gone. All dismantled !
Here's the map of starting line and parking as shown. Yay, tips from my reader on previous post were right. Starting point nearby Zouk, some where near Zouk but toward Renaissance Hotel.
Anticipate 15,000 runners will be running Nike We Run KL 2012, i did not believe on the parking sign shows on the photos above have the capacity for runners to park their cars!
Words of advice: USES PUBLIC TRANSPORT ! You can explore the GO KL FREE BUSES !
Btw, do not trust this simple map. If you're driving, i bet you will be frustrate to the max and stuck in the jam. USES public transport to go starting point!
The nearest Putra LRT station would be Dang Wangi.
The nearest Monorail station would be Bukit Nanas.
These two stations, it's might be giving some trouble to enter the "starting line pen" as you would need to walk to back and enter. Mind you, Jalan Ampang is 4 lanes wide road, the starting arch would occupied 3 lanes. 1 lane for what? for traffic for car to continue their journey or for runners to walk and enter to starting line area? I dont know...
While, if you are not kiasu type, relax enjoying your Nike We Run KL, i would advise you to come out from Putra LRT KLCC station and walk toward starting line. You would be reaching at the back of starting line... no hurry.. relax and enjoy and no need sardine with other runners.
Okay. This is only for getting at starting point. How about finishing point? FYI, the NIKE WE RUN KL finishing point have changed to Padang Merbok from Dataran Merdeka. No more Dataran Merdeka as finishing point.
This is why i'm keep mentioning USES PUBLIC TRANSPORT to the starting line as finishing line are not the same venue where you started your run!
If you have decided to park your car at KLCC area, cheapest and fastest option is via BUS in front of Little India. Board any buses that passby Little India, the buses are all toward Jalan Ampang with fare RM1.00 or RM1.20 i thinks, forget the extract fare, sorry.
Thank you. End.
All the best to Nike We Run KL runners endure the traffic to the starting point and finishing point.

Spartathlon 2012!
When i saw this "Spartathlon" word appeared on my FB timeline, i know it's something that would be interesting to continue read it.
When i first saw it, my mind only have Sparta 300 ! haha...
I believe, Seow Kong, the only Malaysian who is joining SPARTATHLON which cover 246 KM or 153 miles. It's amazing on how he able to qualify for the event! Hard work and effort are put into the training for it.
" Thirty years is celebrating the international race of ultramarathon "SPARTATHLON" which will take place the weekend of 28-29 September in Athens-Sparta route distance 246 km.
The race is conducted on the footsteps of Pheidippides, the ancient Athenian runner and is notable as part of the big names in the field of ultra while many foreign broadcasters and news agencies will cover the organization that revives a piece of Greek history.
As is known, Pheidippides was sent to Sparta in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, to ask for help in the war led by the Greeks against the Persians. According to Herodotus, Pheidippides arrived in Sparta the day after his departure from Athens.
Exclusive sponsor of "SPARTATHLON 2012," is the Foundation "STAVROS NIARCHOS" and for three years until 2013.
In this year's event, held for the 30th year by the International Association SPARTATHLON, have registered 350 athletes, including 315 men and 35 women. Greece will represent the organization of 44 men and 4 women. The top long-distance runners will be at the start Friday, September 28 at 7:00 in the morning on the Acropolis in front of the Herodeon. There will be representatives from the municipalities of Athens and Sparta as well as many foreign TV crews and news agencies to cover the event."
